Nameisonthehalter Shines At Northside
After tackling stakes foes his own age for his last two starts, Nameisonthehalter returned home to Northside Downs on Saturday and flexed his muscle against the best local older pacers with a stellar effort.
With owner-trainer Lawrence Snow at the controls, Nameisonthehalter was forced to start his first-over bid against leader Dreamfair Van Dam (John Gerard Kennedy) prior to the :29.4 first panel and continued that challenge overland through splits of 1:00.1 and 1:30.1. It appeared that Nameisonthehalter was starting to feel the effects of not seeing the rail and gapped off the leader's helmet but found another gear past that third panel.
Heading around the final turn, Nameisonthehalter was in fact making up ground on Dreamfair Van Dam despite being parked the mile and pulled away in the stretch to win by three parts of a length in 2:00.3. Dreamfair Van Dam kicked home enough to muscle out a ground-saving J N J (Roddy Cory Hurley) for runner-up honours.
In four sophomore starts for Snow, Nameisonthehalter (Brandons Cowboy - Keltic Sarah) now boasts three wins and one second with earnings of $6,649.
