Hamather Homebred Stars In PA Series
Owned and bred by Ontario's Robert Hamather, Classy Dragon was the first and fastest winner of Wednesday's Pennsylvania Stallion Series leg for three-year-old pacing colts at Harrah's Philadelphia.
After following in third-place through opening panels of :26.4 and :54.4, Classy Dragon moved past early leaders Maconupwithedragon and North America Cup eligible Santafes Coach to take the lead at the 1:22.1 third quarter mark en route to a career-best victory in 1:51.1 by two and a quarter lengths. Brett Miller drove the Dragon Again-Classic Xample gelding, who is now five-for-eight with earnings of $44,400 this year, for trainer Larry Remmen.
David Miller scored a series double with wins aboard Deerfield Beach (1:51.2) for trainer Richard 'Nifty' Norman and the New Brunswick-bred Kellys Bett (1:52.1) for the Brian Brown stable.
The other $20,000 divisions were won by Western Joe (1:52.3, Matt Kakaley), Donttellmeagain (1:51.2, Tim Tetrick) and Southwind Yukon (1:52.2, Yannick Gingras).
All of the Stallion Series winners except for Donttellmeagain took new lifetime marks.
