Dreamfair Van Dam Clicks Again
Two weeks of racing at Northside Downs, two wins for seasoned pacer Dreamfair Van Dam.
After a win in a lower condition last week, 12-year-old Dreamfair Van Dam jumped up to the $1,150 top class at the North Sydney, N.S. oval and emerged victorious over four foes.
With regular pilot John Gerard Kennedy at the controls, Dreamfair Van Dam was settled into third off the gate as favoured Giant Slayer (Alex MacQuarrie) fronted the field through splits of :29.2 and 1:01.2. Kennedy was out and approaching first-up through that half-mile panel and forged ahead as the third quarter was timed in 1:31. Rounding the far turn, Dreamfair Van Dam had to deal with the challenge of J N J (Roddy Cory Hurley), who got a neck in front as the field turned for home and engaged the veteran in a fierce stretch battle. Dreamfair Van Dam dug deep and managed to come back on to hit the wire first in a 2:02.1 mile over the track rated 'good'. For the second straight week, J N J and Blissfullsreaction (Brett Leblanc) completed the Saturday feature triactor.
Dreamfair Van Dam (Artsplace - JCs Nathalie) now boasts 26 lifetime wins and more than $105,000 in career earnings. He's campaigned under a racing lease for trainer Heather Hawkins of Sydney, N.S.
