On Wednesday, May 10, Speed It put his name alongside Hambletonian winner Vivid Photo in the Rosecroft Raceway record books, as the recently-gelded four-year-old won the $25,600 Maryland Sire Stakes four and five-year-old Open Trot for Brian Burton in 1:54.
Richard Hans owns the Cams Rocket offspring and Arlene Cameron trains the winner that has recorded victories at Yonkers Raceway, Pocono Downs and now Rosecroft in the last month. His lifetime earnings now stand at $222, 832 and he has now won 20 of his 27 career starts.
Also during the card, trainer-driver Timmy Offut won with the brother/sister combo of Fancy Fraternity and Brock N Brian. Both are by The Fraternity Pan and are out of the mare DVC Fancy Footwork. The winners were both bred and owned by Maryland Racing Commission member Tammy Lafferty and her husband, Gerald. Both have been longtime, enthusiastic owners in Maryland.
Driver Corey Callahan has won 220 races so far this season. On Wednesday he left the driving to Frank Milby, who won with Callahan's Calladay Road in 1:59.3. Callahan owns Calladay Road with his wife, Joanna, and is trained by his brother, Shaun.
Billy Carter scored with Concert Artist in the fastest mile of the night in 1:52.3, while Burton, Roger Plante and Ricky Still recorded riving doubles.
Finally, 13-year-old Misfit gelding Talbot Redneck got his picture taken for the 53rd time in what was his 327th start. Ken Schlotzhauer and David Donahue own the veteran whose lifetime earnings now stand just under $310,000. Rosecroft's leading driver, Russell Foster, was in the bike.
