Gearing Up For The Confederation Cup
The countdown is on to the 39th edition of the Confederation Cup at Flamboro Downs. The $150,000 (estimated) Confederation Cup, which is a showcase event for harness racing’s top four-year-old pacers, is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 21.
A total of 32 four-year-old pacers remain eligible to this year’s edition of the Confederation Cup, including the likes of Check Six, Missile J and Easy Lover Hanover to name a few.
Fans on track for Confederation Cup night will be able to enjoy, t-shirt tosses, a parachute drop (weather permitting), industry booths, Pepsi Sampling Squad, prize giveaways, Flamboro's Famous Minis, Wanna Drive, a live concert following the races by local band Speakeasy and much, much more. The TSN 1150 crew will be broadcasting live from Flamboro on Cup night, which will give the race some local attention. Flamboro Downs GM John Stolte will be interviewed numerous times over the week leading into the Final, outlining Cup activities and the race itself.
On Thursday, May 18 the CH Morning Live breakfast show on CHCH 11 will feature a number of pre-recorded Confederation Cup-related segments.
The lead up to Confederation Cup Night will begin one week before the final with eliminations (if necessary) scheduled to be contested on Sunday, May 14. Elimination night is also Mother’s Day, and a special buffet will be offered for the occasion.
