Pembroke Primo Makes A Splash

Pembroke Primo, a five-year-old mare by Ditch Em-Primo Deluxe, went wire-to-wire in 1:58.4, and won the $9,000 featured Filly and Mares Open Handicap Pace for owners John P Cummings, Sr. and Mark Jakubik, over a sloppy track, at Buffalo Raceway Friday night, July 17

Driven by reinsman Kevin Cummings, Pembroke Primo, ($4.30) leaving from the pylons in the field of seven, made every pole a winning one beating six rivals for her seventh win of the 2009 campaign.

Setting fractions of :29.1, :59.1 and 1:29.3 to the three-quarter mark, Pembroke Primo and Cummings beat second place finishers Sister Kae and driver Jimmy Whishman by one-half length. Cocobella (Tom Agosti) came in the show spot.

Trained by John Cummings Sr., the $4,500 share of the winning purse put Pembroke Primo’s season bankroll at $37,800 and $162,496 lifetime.

It was the second win for driver Kevin Cummings, who also scored with Shezasilverlady ($5.50)
