Georgian Gears Up For 2017 Meet
With the 2017 racing season at Georgian Downs fast approaching, officials with Georgian Downs would like to share some important information and changes to the upcoming season, kicking off with live harness racing on Saturday, June 3.
Effective Friday, May 5, 2017 the track at Georgian Downs will open for training from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. The training schedule will remain the same as 2016 with the track open for training each Tuesday and Friday from 8 a.m. – 12 noon for the duration of the racing season.
Qualifiers for 2017 will now be conducted on Saturdays at 4 p.m. from May 27 through August 26.
On Tuesday, August 15, Georgian Downs will proudly host the 2017 World Driving Championship. Keep visiting Standardbred Canada for all the World Driving Championship updates.
“We are very excited, gearing up Georgian Downs for another race season. We’ve been very busy with the World Driving Championship planning, and have been working closely with SC and the racetrack Alliance to ensure we get maximum exposure for the exciting opportunity to showcase talent and product to and from around the world,” said John Stolte, Georgian Downs GM.
Sunday, August 20 will be Georgian's showcase evening of 2017 with the running of the Hon. Earl Rowe Trot. This season, Georgian will be including its very popular Family Day as part of that showcase event.
Post times for 2017 will remain the same: Sundays at 6 p.m., Tuesdays and Saturdays at 7:15 p.m., with free race programs throughout the season at georgiandowns.com.
