Prairie Sweetheart Set To Debut
Let It Ride Stable, Inc. and Dana Parham's Prairie Sweetheart brings her perfect career record to The Meadowlands, seeking her 15th straight victory on Friday night.
The lightly-raced Florida-bred four-year-old mare caught the eye of her current connections with impressive back-to-back scores at Pocono and Yonkers last summer and was placed in the barn of Ross Croghan at The Red Mile after a private purchase.
With no Grand Circuit stakes on her calendar, the new owners chose an unconventional route for Prairie Sweetheart (Royel Millennium - Taylors Lady) by choosing to supplement her to the Allerage Farms Free For All mare pace where she would face division leader Lady Shadow among a very accomplished field of veteran pacing mares. She rewarded their faith with a surprisingly easy 1:49.1 win against that company.
After romping through what remained of her Florida stakes Prairie Sweetheart was put away for the winter and has had a pair of Pompano qualifiers to prepare for Friday's race. She'll begin from post five for driver John Campbell, facing five rivals in an $18,000 conditioned pace.
The Friday offering is a ten-race program that begins at 7:15 p.m.
