Rosecroft Open To Mckenry

'Team Brittingham' celebrated a victory in Sunday’s featured $10,000 Open Handicap for pacers at Rosecroft Raceway thanks to a speedy score with Mckenry.

Bret Brittingham was parked and pressing with Mckenry at the quarter pole in :26, and that pair eventually worked to the lead. It was a short-lived stint on the engine, however, as Rock N Roll Jet revved up his motor and took over command on the way to the mid-way point. He hit the half in :56.3 before being pressed by Concert Artist to the three-quarter pole in 1:24.4.

Those two continued their battle into the lane, but neither could fend off the late-surging Mckenry who kicked home in :27.3 to prevail by a half-length margin over Rock N Roll Jet in 1:52.3. Third prize in the seven-horse affair went to Hickory Aloha.

Sent off as the 2-5 favourite, the Donald Brittingham-trained Mckenry posted the win for Peter and Antionette Gray of Magnolia, DE. The five-year-old son of Mcardle-Sweet Meant To Be now owns a 4-2-0 record from six trips to the track this season. The 15-time winner has banked $158,210 to date.
