Youlookhot Sweeps Mossbarger Series
Youlookhot continued her red hot ways on Friday night (April 7) at Miami Valley Raceway by completing a sweep of the three-week Dr. Don Mossbarger Memorial late-closing series for pacing mares without either six wins or $60,000 lifetime earnings.
The favoured four-year-old daughter of Kilowatt cruised through fractions of :28, :56.3 and 1:24.4 before driver Josh Sutton urged her to a :28.2 final panel to hold off Kiss Me Onthebeach (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) by a half-length and Gypsy Bellevue (Aaron Merriman), who was two lengths back in the 1:53.1 mile.
Trainer Joseph Essig took over the conditioning of Youlookhot about a month ago and she certainly has responded to his program. Since moving to the Essig barn, she has earned $26,750 in four starts, including this $27,500 Mossbarger championship. Owned by Charles Stovall, Youlookhot now boasts 14 wins in 45 career trips to post and has earned $80,267.
Earlier in the program, Rock The Look (Jason Brewer) scored a repeat triumph in the $20,000 Mares Open Pace, besting American Girl (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) and Stucklikeglue (Greg Grismore) by less than a length. The 1:53.2 come-from-behind victory was the five-year-old Rockin Image mare’s second of the season and 20th lifetime, boosting her bankroll to $352,500 for owners Suttons Bay Racing and co-owner/trainer Joe Putnam.
