Call For Justice Wins Another Preferred
Call For Justice made it four straight when he overpowered the field with a first-over blitz and rolled home in a career-best 1:52.4 in Wednesday’s $20,000 Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.
Call For Justice was fourth down the backside when Dave Palone sent him after the leader, Fashion Chocolate. The five-year-old son of Justice Hall-Mikas Mazurka overwhelmed Fashion Chocolate and drew off to defeat Tricky Nick by three and three-quarter lengths. Fashion Chocolate saved show.
Ron Burke trains Call For Justice, who extended lifetime earnings to $318,797, for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.
In the co-feature, the $18,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Trot, Barn Girl was hammered down to 2-5 in the five-horse field and performed like the heavy favourite, collecting a facile front-end victory in 1:55 for Aaron Merriman, trainer Bill Bercury and owner Renee Bercury. The pocket-sitting Goodtogo Hanover, opening her four-year-old campaign, was second, one and a half lengths back, while Bags For All rallied for show.
The five-year-old daughter of Cash Hall-Turquoise Sweetie now boasts a career bankroll of $423,696.
