New Scratching Rule At Saratoga

As of Thursday (March 23), Saratoga Casino & Hotel has a new policy for horses scratching out from Post 7 or 8.

Trainers stabled on the grounds who scratch from said posts, will not be permitted to enter their horse for seven days. Under no circumstances during that period will they be allowed to enter at any other venue. Failure to adhere to this policy will result in possible fines and/or penalties.

Trainers who ship to race at Saratoga will be given one free pass for the remainder of the meet, which runs through Sunday (December 17). Any subsequent scratches, the entry will be refused on that horse until the required seven days have passed.

Due to recent confusion on our 60-day claiming rule policy, owners or their agents will now need to sign a document stating that they are fully aware that it’s a 60-day rule, and entry at any other venue without permission from the race secretary before the days have expired will result in possible fines and/or penalties.
