Another New Winner In Ohio Open Trot
Pine Dream (Trace Tetrick) became the seventh different Open Trot winner on Tuesday afternoon (March 14) out of nine contested so far at the 2017 Miami Valley Raceway meet.
Only Tag Up And Go and Walter White, each with two triumphs, have been able to repeat in the weekly square-gait feature.
Stepping into Open company for the first time, Pine Dream and Tetrick were content to get away fourth in the compact field of seven, watching Mikey Hanover (Josh Sutton) carve all the early fractions in :27.4, :56.3 and 1:27.3. The winner, a five-year-old son of Pinetucky, moved into second-over position behind eventual runner-up Dont Rush (Dan Noble) down the backside, then swung three-wide at the three-quarter pole before coasting to a three-length 1:57.4 victory in the stretch. Elin (Kayne Kauffman) closed well to finish third.
Pine Dream is owned by Marvin Raber of Indiana and is trained by Chris McGuire. He now sports a dozen career victories and a lifetime bankroll of $75,196.
