Repeat Winners In Petticoat Sequel

Four divisions of the Petticoat Series went postward Monday evening at Yonkers Raceway, and making round trips to victory lane following their respective assignments were Northern Soiree and Cousin Mary.

Northern Soiree, who was a 1:56 winner one week ago, turned a two-hole trip into a 1:57.1 tally in tonight’s $20,000 division. Jason Bartlett worked out the magical trip for the Scott Blackler trainee, who used a :30.1 final quarter to win by a length over Lucky Player. Third was race favourite Reis Star Cross.

Sent off at odds of 8-1, the four-year-old daughter of Western Ideal-Yankee Celebration won for the fourth time this season from just seven trips to the track. The career winner of $128,199 is owned by Seth Rosenberg Racing LLC of Valhalla, NY.

Cousin Mary cruised to a facile win in 1:54.3 in last week’s opening leg of the series, and she was just as dominant in Monday’s follow-up performance.

Jordan Stratton got away in the pocket spot with the Andrew Harris trainee, and together they stalked Real Diva through fractions of :28.3, :58.2 and 1:27.2. Stratton found his heavily-favoured charge clearance in the lane and she smoked home in :28.2 to win by five lengths over Real Diva in 1:56. The show dough went to Hearts Wild.

The public hammered the four-year-old daughter of Camluck-Chianti Seelster down to odds of 1-2, and she didn’t disappoint. The win gives her a 2017 boxscore that reads 5-1-0 from seven trips to the track. She’s banked $82,724 to date for owner Jeffrey Williamson of Blyth, Ont.

Angles Rockn Pink won her division for the tandem of driver Mark MacDonald and trainer Butenschoen in a time of 1:56.1. The 2-5 favourite bested Feelin Red Hot and Pretty Real Desire.

The four-year-old daughter of Rock N Roll Heaven-Miss Liz, who races for Crawford Farms Racing of Syracuse, NY, is now a three-time winner with purse earnings in excess of $176,000.

Jason Bartlett guided St Kitts to a 1:55.2 triumph in the final division. The Richie Banca pupil enjoyed a two-hole trip most of the way, and she parlayed the sweet ride into a winning effort over A Crafty Lady and race favourite Vintage Babe.

The four-year-old daughter of Somebeachsomewhere-Captiva Island is now 9-for-15 in her career. She’s racked up more than $38,000 to date for owner Fred Hertrich III of Seaford, DE.
