‘Four-Peat’ For Timoko

On Sunday, March 12 at Cagnes sur Mer in France, Timoko captured the Grand Criterium de Vitesse for the fourth time in his career – but this time it was in a new stakes-record clocking.

The 10-year-old son of Imoko started from Post 4 and was forwardly-placed early. Driver Björn Goop raced overland early before crossing over to the lead.

Goop and Timoko had things going their way, and once the pressure came along the final turn, the bay dug in, repelled his challenger – Un Mec dHeripre, driven by Jena Michel Bazire – and hung on for a convincing win in 1:51.4.

The new stakes record clocking broke the existing mark of 1:52, which was trotted by the great Varenne 15 years ago.

Timoko is owned by Richard Westerink of Array, France.
