Greystone Ladylike Delivers In London
Making her first start at The Raceway at the Western Fair District in three years, WEG Circuit regular Greystone Ladylike delivered as the 6-5 favourite in Friday's featured $10,000 Preferred 2 for pacing mares.
Alfie Carroll picked up the catch-drive for trainer Brent Belore and sent Greystone Ladylike first-over to collar the pacesetting Stonebridge Quest (:31.1, 1:02, 1:30.3) into the stretch. The eight-year-old daughter of Stonebridge Regal earned her first win of the year, scoring by three lengths in 1:59.4 over the 'good' track. She paid $4.70 to win as the bettors' choice. Ride Away Shark, driven by Travis Henry, closed off the winner's cover to finish second ahead of Stonebridge Quest and Nick Steward.
Owned and bred by James and Jean Caddey of Embro, Ont., Greystone Ladylike has won 29 times in her career spanning 133 starts and is approaching the half-million dollar mark in career earnings.
