Good Night For Gilchrist’s Crew
Jason Gilchrist enjoyed a productive night at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Monday evening thanks to a trio of trips to the winner’s circle with horses from his own stable

Dalton James got the ball rolling for Gilchrist, who guided the seven-year-old son of Lion King to a 2:01.1 score in the sixth race. The gelding, who is owned by Charles Farrell of Spencerville, ON, drew off to win by more than four lengths as a 5-1 mild upsetter.
That one’s stablemate King Clifford did his part for the barn when he turned a two-hole trip into a 2:02.3 victory in the eleventh race for trainer/driver Gilchrist. The five-year-old son of King Conch scored by a length for Gilchrist and partners Charles Farrell and Cory Summers.
Dr. Frederick Albert’s Chance Meeting completed the hat trick for Gilchrist thanks to his narrow victory in the fourteenth race. The five-year-old son of Camluck, who was sent off at odds of 8-1, turned a pocket trip into a 1:58.2 score.
Gilchrist, who enjoyed a career-best 69-win season in 2008, has now sent out 32 winners this year from his outfit. He has trained winners in excess of $3.4-million to date, and his three-win performance on Monday evening sent his lifetime driving earnings over the $5-million mark.
