Juvenile Pacing Colts Battle In Bud Light
Freshman pacing colts and geldings strutted their stuff at Canada’s fastest half-mile oval on Sunday, as Flamboro Downs hosted the Bud Light Stakes
.
Trainer Shawn Robinson watched Lyons Danny win for the second time in as many tries thanks to his 1:56.1 tally in the $46,590 opening division. Jack Moiseyev, who guided the son of Astreos-Croquette Hanover to a 1:56.4 maiden-breaking win at Mohawk Racetrack on June 28, mapped out tonight’s trip for the colt who defeated race favourite Future Million and Sonic Seelster.
Joseph Lyons Mound of Burford, ON holds the papers on the youngster, who was a $14,000 purchase from last year’s Harrisburg Yearling Sale. The victory pushed his lifetime earnings to $31,795 with the win.
In the second division it was the father/son team of trainer Carl Jamieson and driver Jody Jamieson joining forces to win with Rafferty Hanover in a time of 1:59.2. The son of Western Ideal-Razzle Hanover led through fractions of :29, 1:00.2 and 1:30.1 before punching home in :29.1 to defeat stablemate Wave That Banner by three-quarters of a length. Third prize went to Grin For Money.
Carl Jamieson, Tom Kyron, Arthur Slack and George Harrison share ownership on the colt, who was an $87,000 purchase from last year’s Harrisburg Yearling Sale. He’s a three-quarter brother to Restive Hanover (1:51.4 - $1,015,633) and a half-brother to Rayson Hanover (1:50.4 - $802,803).
