His Time To Rise Is Now
Rise Up Now did just that in the Monday night feature at The Raceway at Western Fair District, winning the $11,000 Preferred 2 Handicap for pacing horses and geldings.
The time for Rise Up Now to pounce was perfectly predicted by driver Bob McClure, who placed the pacer in the pocket as Daylight Rush (Paul MacKenzie) powered through fractions of :27.2, :57 and 1:26. McClure was patiently following the pacesetter until the final turn, and with a pull of the right line Rise Up Now made a bid for the front. Through the stretch, Daylight Rush stayed with the fresh threat but couldn't hold off the pocket-sitter as Rise Up Now tripped the timer three-quarters of a length to the good in 1:55.3. Blissfull Years (J Harris) completed the triactor.
Richard Moreau trains and Brad Grant of Milton, Ont. owns five-year-old Rise Up Now (Somebeachsomewhere - Northwestern), now a three-time winner in five starts this year. Those three wins are just one off Rise Up Now's 2016 win total -- which came from 37 starts.
