Longshots Advance In Survivor Series
A pair of longshots prevailed in second round Survivor Series action for $5,000 claiming mares at Miami Valley on Monday afternoon (Feb. 13). The top five finishers from each $7,500 split will return in two weeks for a $15,000 championship final on February 27.
Togetherforever scored in the first elimination in 1:56, returning $35.40 to her $2 supporters. Mike Oosting guided the six-year-old Duneside Perch lass for owner Tina Seekman and trainer Joe Seekman. Endeavors Ladyluck (Jeremy Smith) finished second, Elm Grove Joanette (Kayne Kauffman) third, Wrong Girl (Ken Holliday) fourth and Certitude (Trace Tetrick) secured the final automatic advance ticket with a fifth-place finish.
Well Wishers (Simon Allard) upset in the second split, paying $17.00 for her identical 1:56 triumph. Next to cross the finish beam were My Hare Lady (Jason Brewer), My Marisa Clair (Smith), Ms Memphis Bird (Oosting) and Crucial Moment (Tetrick). Randal Smith trains Well Wishers, a four-year-old Western Terror mare, for Jessica Smith.
Live harness racing resumes Tuesday afternoon at 2:05 when the spotlight will be shared by a $22,000 Open Trot and four second-round divisions of a Survivor Series for $5,000 claiming male pacers.
