Sires Stakes Freshmen To Northfield Sat.

This Saturday (July 25), Northfield Park will showcase a trio of $40,000 Ohio Sires Stakes tilts for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings.

The three races will comprise the second leg of the four-round series.

Saturday's first sires stakes tilt (Race 1) will feature a field of seven freshmen, including opening-leg winner Laughagain Hanover, who captured his first sires stakes assignment in 1:54.3 for driver Peter Wrenn and trainer Laura Searway. The son of McArdle is owned by Cimaglio, Richardson and Gilmartin.

Fellow opening-leg winners Hardt At Work and Charlie May are se tto face off in the second division (Race 4). Owned by Brett Boyd Racing and Anthony Fomosa, Hardt At Work is a son of Manhardt that is trained and driven by Mike Micallef. The youngster scored a 1:55.1 triumph at Scioto Downs on July 11 and in unbeaten after two career starts. Charlie May is a brown unaltered son by McArdle trained by Steve Carter for Don Tiger. This youngster won his Leg 1 event in 1:54.1 with Danny Noble at the lines in a wire-to-wire effort and sports a bankroll of $95,000 as he also captured the Next Generation Pace at Scioto in his first career start.

Odds On Pick Six is the clear standout in the third sires stakes contest (Race 7) after having won his opening-leg tilt in 1:54.2 at Scioto on July 11. Trained by Melanie Wrenn for Odds On Racing, the son of Racing Hill has also recorded a second-place finish in the aforementioned Next Generation Pace.
