The pre-registration deadline is nearing for the 24th annual National Standardbred Horse Show, to be held at the Horse Park of NJ in Allentown, N.J., with more than $11,000 in prize money.

The annual all-Standardbred horse show is co-hosted by the SPHO-NJ and the SBOANJ as well as numerous other sponsors and volunteers. For the first time the show will be held over three days Friday (Aug. 10), Saturday (Aug. 11), and Sunday (Aug. 12). Pre-registration closes Wednesday (July 25). It is strongly recommended to pre-enter to save on entry fees.

New for 2018 are two classes for horses that are currently available for adoption; these two classes will not have an entry fee. Also, the Sam McKee Memorial Barrel Race will take place on Friday night with a special silk cooler sponsored by The Meadowlands.

For the second year in a row, the organizers are proud to host a Pacing For The Cure event on Sunday, which will be a Two Gait Pleasure Horse Challenge; this class is open to all horses and all disciplines. The $20 entry fee into this class will be 100 percent donated to PFTC.

The 2018 edition of the show offers the following divisions: Showmanship, In-Hand, Western, Jumpers, Dressage, Fresh Off The Track, English Pleasure, Equitation, Rookie Horse, Hunter, Speed, Fun, In Harness, Obstacle Driving, Roadster, War Horse, Jersey Bred, and Gaited.

The following division must be pre-registered in order to verify eligibility: Fresh Off The Track (horses that have raced on or after Aug. 12, 2017), War Horse (horses that have lifetime earnings over $200,000 or made over 100 lifetime starts, or 20 years of age or older) and Jersey Bred (horses that were born in the state of NJ or sired by a stallion standing in NJ).

Special thanks to Marx Equine Dentistry, Lynn Pebole and Rob Pennington for sponsoring an Ice Cream Truck each day.
