Monticello Raceway announced on Saturday it will offer prep races for New York-bred two-year-old pacing colts that are non-winners of one pari-mutuel race lifetime, for a purse of $5,000.
The draw will be on Wednesday, June 17 and the box closes at 9:00 a.m. for the Monday, June 22 card.
The timing of this prep race bodes well for two-year-old pacing colts looking to race in the New York Sire Stakes on June 29.
“We felt that it is an excellent opportunity to have trainers give their colts a preview of the Monticello oval, prior to racing in the Sire Stakes,” said Monticello Raceway Race Secretary Eric Warner.
Monticello Raceway's post time is 12:50 for its Monday through Thursday schedule. The 50-cent Pick 5 wager runs in races three through seven.
