Megens Wins Final Zoom Challenge

The I Love Canadian Harness Racing Fan Club would like to congratulate Faith Megens of Cambridge, Ont. for winning the final Zoom Photography Challenge, Meet My Horse. For the month of September we chose ‘Meet My Horse’ as the theme so the Fan Club could get the chance to meet your horse!

At the young age of six, Faith submitted this photo of herself and her grandfather’s horse Lexus Diamond. The picture was taken at her Opa’s farm in Puslinch, Ont., on September 24 by her mother Stacey Newman.

“We were hanging out for the day with Opa and her daddy and she was over with Lexus Diamond giving her carrots when I took the picture” Stacey explained.

Lexus Diamond is a two-year-old filly who is owned, trained and driven by Faith’s grandfather William Megens. She is Faith’s favourite horse because she is so loving.

“I love my horse, Lexus Diamond because she loves to snuggle me and eat carrots!” explained Faith.

Faith was born into a racing family; her grandfather is veteran horseman Bill Megens who has been involved in the industry for over 60 years. Her father is Paul Megens who was a top driver on the British Columbia circuit for years.

When Faith isn’t hanging out with Lexus Diamond she enjoys spending time with her twenty-year-old pony Lil Miss! She also owns two racehorses with her mom, Twin B JJ and Snegem Bianca.

Congratulations to Faith and thank you to everyone who submitted photos, including our other Zoom finalists:

  • Photo # 2: Emy Raymond, for the picture of herself and Fortune Fella.

  • Photo # 3: Evelyn Sabraw, of Acme, Alberta for the shot of herself and three-year-old Standardbred Ruby Tuesday after her very first ride on the filly.

  • Photo # 4: Jennifer Vincent, of Regina, Saskatchewan for the shot of herself and her daughter Addison with her 25-year-old horse Hornby Sette.

Now that the final Zoom challenge is complete, the six monthly winners will be eligible to win a grand prize, which will include a $50 gift card to the racetrack of their choice, an enlargement of their winning photo framed or plaque mounted, and of course bragging rights as overall Zoom winner for 2016!
