Super Saturday At Charlottetown

Published: November 7, 2008 07:00 pm EST

The Charlottetown Driving Park will play host to the Atlantic Regional Driving Championship tomorrow, but there will be promotions and quite an undercard on the docket, as well.

Races 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 will see pilots Joseph Campbell, Robert Laffin, Jason Hughes, Wayne Williams, Kenny Arsenault, Gilles Barrieau, Darren Crowe, Todd Trites and Marc Campbell battle it out in the regional dashes to see whom will gain entrance to the nationals.

If the Regional Driving Championship is the headliner, than the Lady Slipper Stakes is the undercard. And what an undercard it is. A pair of $11,300 Gold divisions has been carded as Races 1 and 5, while a pair of $7,600 Grassroots splits has been programmed as Race 9 and 14.

The First Gold split of the Lady Slipper will showcase a field of five which includes Southview Spirit and Atlantic Sires Stakes champion R Es Mary. Earl Smith will drive R Es Mary, while the upstart Darko will be piloted by Kenny Arsenault.

The Pick 7 to Las Vegas showdown begins on Race 6. Two customers went 6 for 7 last week while racing analysts Les MacIsaac, Gerard Smith and Peter MacPhee had a big day in the win columns. MacIsaac picked 8 winners in a row during last week's event.

Super Saturdays also feature grand prize shopping sprees to Sobeys and Mark's Work Wearhouse. The Warm Up for Winter contest qualifies customers for a trip to Cuba along with thousands of dollars in early bird prizes when they place their wagers. Tracks from across the country have also donated prizes in the Customer Sweepstakes.

Super Saturdays get underway at 1:00 p.m. sharp.
