Speed Supreme In Rideau Preferreds

The front held in the Preferred features at Rideau Carlton Raceway on Sunday, Sept. 30 as Pasadena Star took the $8,100 trot off a pocket trip in 1:57.3 and Doctor Royal went wire to wire in the $8,100 pace.

Pasadena Star led past the quarter in :28.2 as Lmc Mass Gem drew alongside before moving to the top heading through the stretch first time. Lmc Mass Gem trotted by the half in :58.2 while Upvote Hanover, from fifth, advanced first over into third and marched to be alongside the pacesetter by three-quarters in 1:27.3. Upvote Hanover overtook Lmc Mass Gem in the stretch but then gave way to Pasadena Star surging out of the two hole to win by a length.

A seven-year-old gelding by Kadabra, Pasadena Star, owned by 9096 9205 Quebec Inc., won his fifth race in 29 starts this season and his 30th in 132 overall, earning $353,629. Stephane Pouliot trains and drove the $7.90 winner.

From post two, Doctor Royal took the lead, sped through fractions of :26, :54.3 and 1:23.2 and held off The Roadies closing in late to take the Preferred Pace by one-and-a-quarter lengths in 1:52.3. The Marie Auger-trained six-year-old gelding by Royal Mattjesty won his seventh race from 27 starts this season and his 11th from 42 overall, collecting $63,134 for owner 2273824146. He paid $11.90 to win.
