Raising Rusty Rushes At Rideau

Trainer-driver Stephane Pouliot overcame the second tier to take the $10,500 Preferred Handicap Trot on Thursday night (Sept. 29) at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

Capteur De Reve rolled to the lead from post 8 to a :27.3 first quarter with Fit Bitt sitting second and Raising Rusty landing in third. Through an uncontested half in :57.4, Capteur De Reve braced for a backside blitz from Raising Rusty, who slid to the lead by three-quarters in 1:27. Raising Rusty then spun for home withstanding a late charge from favourite Black Tie Bash by a half length in 1:55.4 with Crossfit finishing third.

A five-year-old gelding by Kadabra, Raising Rusty won his 20th race from 92 starts and has now earned $119,934. He is owned by 9096 9205 Quebec Inc. and paid $16.60 to win.
