Mohawk's Tuesday Qualifiers Complete

Woodbine Mohawk Park hosted six qualifiers on Tuesday morning (Sept. 28), with an O'Brien Award winner and a pair of two-year-olds looking to get back on track.

O'Brien Award-winning trotting mare Hey Livvy turned in the fastest mile of the morning session, sprinting a :26.3 final frame to win in 1:53.3 by 14 lengths.

She looped around early leader Godspell Hall after a :58.4 half and trotted away, with Meadowbranch Noble and Ace Bi finishing second and third.

A 23-time career winner with nearly $500,000 in purses, the six-year-old Donato Hanover mare opened her 2021 campaign with a pair of Open wins at Yonkers Raceway, but broke at the start of her latest outings in the Vincennes and Armbro Flight. Driver Trevor Henry and trainer Jeff Gillis both share ownership with Ellen Ott and Blue Chip Bloodstock Inc.

The top two-year-old qualifying winners were the Shawn Steacy-trained Walner filly Warrawee Xenia and the Sunshine Beach gelding Bob Loblaw, each looking to get back on track after making a pair of breaks in their most recent races.

After posting panels of :28.2, :58.2 and 1:28.1 in rein to Mark Steacy, Warrawee Xenia was leading by five lengths in her qualifier as she trotted over pylons through the stretch and held on by a head for the 1:58 score, matching her lifetime mark taken in a late August qualifier. Grace charged late to finish second by a head, with Louis a half-length back.

Warrawee Xena won her career debut on July 29 before making breaks in her subsequent four starts, including the Peaceful Way eliminations. She is owned by David McDonald, Dale Larson, Bertrand Gilhespy Stable and A K Malik Stable.

After making miscues in the Champlain Stakes and Metro Pace, high-profile pacing gelding Bob Loblaw charted a clean line, leading by multiple lengths through fractions of :28.2, :58.4 and 1:27.2 en route to a 1:55.4 qualifying win with Sylvain Filion in the sulky. Chucky Hanover finished two lengths behind in second with Docs Papparazzi third.

Ken Middleton trains and co-owns the Nassagaweya Stakes winner with David Walls, James Grant and Starting Centre Stables. Bob Loblaw has two wins and three thirds from 10 starts with more than $116,000 banked so far in his career.
