Daley On Broad Bahn

A part of Saturday's ultra-impressive live program at Mohawk Racetrack is the $500,000 William Wellwood Memorial Trot, which will feature some of North America's top two-year-old trotters.

One of last week's elimination winners was Broad Bahn, who lowered the track record and equalled the Canadian record for a two-year-old trotter when he won in a career-best
clocking of 1:55.1

The son of Broadway Hall was a $20,000 yearling purchase and has already earned $90,536 for his connections. Trainer Noel Daley has sent the young trotter to Mike Vanderkemp while the horse remains in Canada to prep for the rich final.

After last weeks elimination, the Woodbine Entertainment Group's media department caught up with Daley. The veteran conditioner offered his thoughts on his chances for the lion's share of the $500,000 purse.

"He's a great-going horse and he's got a good attitude and he wants to do it," said Daley. "We had the softer of the three eliminations and I said to Jack (driver Jack Moiseyev) that if he doesn't do anything wrong he will leave by himself and get across. Anytime he's been on the front they haven't passed him, he sticks in."
