On Friday, Sept. 15, Truro Raceway announced that the Nova Scotia half-mile oval will drop five cards from its 2023 harness racing calendar.
"Please be advised that due to financial circumstances, Truro Raceway will be cancelling five upcoming race cards. The decline in HPIbet revenue and Teletheatre Simulcast Revenue in 2023 has forced these cancellations," said the track in a release.
Cancelled dates include Sunday, Sept. 24, Oct. 1, Oct. 8, Oct. 15 and Oct. 22.
"We will work with our industry partners to relocate the Home Hardware Maritime Breeders Stakes that was scheduled for Truro Raceway on Oct. 22," the release continued. "Our final two race dates of the season, Oct. 29 and Nov. 5, will remain scheduled for now, pending a decision on those moving forward in the next 30 days."
