After having sent his first starter out in mid-May, trainer Scott Habbershaw posed for his first winner's circle photo with one of his own pupils during yesterday's 12-race card at

Dresden Raceway.

In Race 11, Habbershaw, a 28-year-old resident of London, Ont., handed Putnam Jaguar's lines over to driver Robert Sparling, Jr.

The duo lined up in Post 4, and after going off as a 9-1 shot, the pair darted to the lead early and clicked off the opening quarter in :29.1.

Sparling and the four-year-old Modern Art gelding clicked off the middle panels in 1:00.1 and 1:31.1 before making a good showing of himself in the lane.

Coming home with a :29.2 final quarter, Putnam Jaguar extended his lead to three and a quarter-lengths at the wire and stopped the clock in 2:00.3.

With the victory, Putnam Jaguar returned $20.10, $4.20 and $2.60 across-the-board prices and topped an $87.80 exactor and a $63.10 triactor.

The win was the first of Habbershaw's training career and came in via his ninth starter.
