Three Horses To Be Retired At Batavia

Published: August 5, 2014 11:20 am EDT

On August 10, Sunshine Horses and Batavia Downs Gaming will be celebrating the retirement of three amazing athletes, Golden Terror, Perfect Man, and Arm And A Leg.

The trio demonstrated their talent, drive, and character throughout their careers and left a lasting impression on the Standardbred racing industry.

Both Arm And A Leg and Golden Terror, also known as ‘The Monster’ on the track, were awarded the Western New York Horse of the Year in 2009 and 2011, respectively. Perfect Man made 160 starts with 22 wins, 30 seconds, 24 thirds and total earnings of $225,000.

With all three horses now ready for their second career, join Sunshine at Batavia Downs as it will ride all three horses into the winner’s circle. Also in the circle will be each of the horses’ former owners, as well as Golden Terror’s and Perfect Man’s new ‘forever families.’ Each horse will be presented with a commemorative cooler symbolizing their transition from their careers on the track to their new homes.

The day will also feature a visit from Sunshine mini mascot Zack and a silent auction with many beautiful items including a recliner, a flat screen TV, an autographed Syracuse basketball poster and much more. Tickets for the clubhouse buffet are $15. The first race will be at 1 p.m. and races will continue until 4 p.m. Clubhouse doors will open at 11 a.m.

Sunshine Horses would like to thank Howard Ouriel, Cathy Barzycki, Todd Haight, and Wanda Polisseni for their generous contribution to this event.

For more information please contact the organization through its contact page. We look
forward to seeing you there.
