Star Photo Sizzles In Open Trot

Odds-on favourite Freddie experienced equipment issues in Thursday’s $2,300 Open Trot at the Charlottetown Driving Park, and that left the door wide-open for Star Photo to score for driver Jason Hughes.

Star Photo went right to the lead for Hughes, and the pair never looked back once they got there. After putting up fractions of :29.1, 1:00.1 and 1:31.1, the veteran gelding kicked home in :28.3 to win by 2-1/4 lengths over Majian Tango in 1:59.4. Suicide Shift rounded out the Trifecta ticket.

Kevin Gillis trains the 10-year-old son of Classic Photo-TV Star Kosmos for owners Robi Hughes, Blair MacLauchlan, Eric MacLauchlan and James Perrot. The 45-time winner pushed his lifetime earnings over $370,000 with the win.
