Brown Wins Half Of KD's Saturday Races

Kawartha Downs' leading driver Gord Brown collected five more wins on Saturday night's 10-race card in Fraserville, Ont.

Brown began his five-bagger with three consecutive victories mid-card. He scored with Whitesand Merlot ($3.90) for trainer James Kay between victories with Mark Steacy trainees Danish Duke ($4.90) and High Blue ($9.70). Brown later worked out an upset win with Shadys Art ($17.90) circling the ninth race field for George Hunt and closed out the card with another victory aboard Livie ($4.90) for Edward Perconi Jr.

With 47 of his 72 seasonal triumphs occurring at Kawartha Downs, the Brighton, Ont. horseman holds a 14-win lead over Aaron Byron and Anthony Kerwood, who are tied for second on the local leaderboard.
