Dave Boughton has driven in nearly 19,000 races, but confesses he never considered calling one.
Adding the venture to his bucket list and knocking it off in the same night, Boughton is the seventh reinsman to take the mic in Grand River Raceway’s guest announcer series From Bike To Mic.
Boughton called race four on the Fun & Frivolity Friday Night card. R Lil King, driven by Paul Mackenzie, took advantage of a two-hole trip to reach up in the final strides for the victory. Owner Rod Boyd also trains the seven-year-old son of Western Maverick.
Next Friday’s guest announcer will be announced on Wednesday.
