Buffalo Open To All About Thechase

All About Thechase was aptly named for Buffalo Raceway's $10,900 Class A-Open Handicapped Trot on Friday night as he 'chased' longshot Lunar Credit for most of the mile before finally catching him in deep stretch to snag the win.

The victory didn't come easy for All About Thechase (Mike Caprio) but he did establish a new lifetime mark in collecting the three-quarter length victory in 1:58 over the fast track. Lunar Credit (James McNeight, Jr.) had to settle for a tough luck second place finish while Mugshot Bro (Shawn McDonough) was third.

Lunar Credit, sent off at 50-to-1, handed out a parking ticket to Mr Quaker early and put up splits of :29.4, :58.1 and 1:28. With Mr Quaker retreating, the stubborn Lunar Credit did everything to try and looked strong in the lane but just couldn't hold off All About Thechase late.

Owned by the Caprio Stables and trained by Alana Caprio, it was the second win in six tries in 2021 for the five-year-old All About Thechase (Conway Hall-Highway Cash). The triumph moved his seasonal earnings to $14,131 and $35,477 lifetime.

In the $8,600 Class B Trot, Arnold ($7.80) wasn't pleased in getting away second off the starting gate so driver David McNeight III fired him to the lead before the opening panel and cruised home after that, beating JS Swanman by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:59.4.

The favoured Big Bill Breeze (McDonough) went to the top early but Arnold played give and go, setting the splits of :30.2, :59.4 and 1:29.4. Heading down the stretch, Arnold felt no pressure and trotted away to the victory over JS Swanman (McNeight, Jr.) with Classic Sunny (Kevin Cummings) rolling in for third place.

Owned and trained by Cassandra Johnson, the eight-year-old gelded Arnold (Donato Hanover-Precious Lindy) has now won three times in 17 starts this season. His bankroll on the campaign increased to $16,036 and $175,221 in his career.

Kyle Cummings, McNeight III and McDonough each had two victories in the sulky.

Racing will continue on Saturday evening with a nine-race program set with a special 7:15 p.m. post time to accommodate for the running of the Belmont Stakes.
