Sent the 1-5 favourite, Pretty Handsome pounced on his competitors with a first-over charge to snag the $10,000 Horses & Geldings Preferred 3 Pace on the 2021 season opener at Georgian Downs on Tuesday (June 15).
Driver Colin Kelly floated Pretty Handsome into third from post 3 as the field lined in post-position order, led by Ideal Jet from the pylon post. Ideal Jet set a clip of :27, :56.3 and 1:24.4 before bearing the far-turn blitz from Pretty Handsome, giving way to the Lacey McCabe trainee in headstretch as he strode clear to a 2 3/4-length win in 1:53. Osborne Seelster, off a pocket trip, settled for third.
A six-year-old gelding by Mach Three, Pretty Handsome won his 33rd race from 73 starts, earning $331,895 for owner Glenview Livestock Ltd. He paid $2.30 to win.
Racing continues at Georgian Downs on a Tuesday-Saturday-Sunday rotation through Tuesday, Aug. 31. Saturday racing also gets underway at 7:15 p.m. (EDT) while racing on Sundays will start at 6:00 p.m. (EDT).
