Brushstrokes is a pacing filly who has quickly mastered the art of winning for the father and son tandem of trainer Walter Whelan and driver Michael Whelan

.

The three-year-old daughter of Real Artist, who was unraced as a rookie, toted a four-race win streak into her $18,000 conditioned assignment at Mohawk Racetrack on Thursday evening and she had no problem pushing her win streak to five-in-a-row.

Brushstrokes, fresh off a 1:52.2 career-best mile at Mohawk one week ago, benefitted from a second-over trip en route Thursday’s 1:53 score over Lets Go Get Em and Seriously.

Brushstrokes is owned by John Christensen of Scarborough, ON, who also owned the streaking filly’s dam, Lucky Irma. She retired with a mark of 1:50.3 and earnings in excess of $380,000. Brushstrokes only has another $341,939 to go before she catches up to her mom in the earnings department.
