Eighth Race Incident Causes Concern At Rideau

A one-horse incident, which saw Cocky Lavec fall just after the first quarter, occurred during the eighth race at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Friday

Cocky Lavec, who was positioned three-wide going into the opening quarter, choked and fell at the head of the stretch. Driver Jerome Lombart, who also trains, owns and bred the trotter, appeared to escape injuries and did race later during the card. No other horses were affected by the incident.

The three-year-old Mr Lavec colt was attended to and was up on his feet shortly after to return to the paddock.
