Prospector Claiming Series Begins

The Prospector Claiming Series kicked off on Saturday night at Georgian Downs with three $12,000 divisions for $15,000 claimers

that are non-winners of $60,000 lifetime as of March 15.

Lifeoftheoldboy, P L Earl and Libertys Best Star all came away from the opening leg with their first wins of the season.

Trained and driven by Barry Treen, four-year-old Life Sign gelding Lifeoftheoldboy ($2.80) was a gate-to-wire winner in the first division in a career-best 1:53.2 for owner Leonard Gamble of Etobicoke, Ont.

Four-year-old Million Dollar Cam gelding P L Earl ($4.80), driven by Stephen Byron, rallied three-wide at the third quarter station in the next split and edged out first over Pretty Boy Cam for the quarter length score in 1:54.4. Jeffrey Brooks trains the homebred for Prince Lee Acres, of Uxbridge, Ont. and 590900 Ontario Ltd. of Brampton, Ont.

Trainer-driver Brandon Campbell and Libertys Best Star ($13.30), a four-year-old son of Cammibest, held off Dutchtreat Hanover by half a length to win the final division in a career-best 1:53.2 for owners James Carr of Hamilton, Ont. and Steve Mihalic of Burlington, Ont.
