Series Winners Set New Season's Mark

Gee Wizz George set a North American season’s mark on Tuesday (April 11) at The Meadows, only to see it broken about an hour later by Media Buzz. Each captured a $15,000, second-leg division of the Tamarind Trot for three-year-old colts and geldings.

Gee Wizz George hadn’t been on top at any point in his last four starts, but when Brady Brown hustled him to the front from post three, he opened up a four-length lead out of the final turn. Though he tired late, Gee Whiz George downed DDs Comet by two lengths in 1:56.2, fastest this year by a three-year-old gelding on a five-eighths-mile track. Box Of Luck earned show. Jean Rastetter trains the son of Great George Two-Caviar Girl for Maryann Rastetter.

Media Buzz bettered that mark when he moved powerfully first-over for Bryce Brocklehurst and rolled home in 1:55.3, a length ahead of Lars Perry, the 4-5 favourite. Nick Of Time finished third. Steve Bush conditions Media Buzz, a son of Explosive Matter-Lady Bar, and owns with Alvira Fassett and Dennis Fassett.
