Trotting mare Thundering Ovation took top honours in the $11,000 Preferred 2 feature on Wednesday night at Flamboro Downs.

Driven by Phil Hudon, she turned back the parked out Cimeronken past the half and cruised to a four length victory in 1:59.4 over the 'good' track. Thundering Ovation, who won a Preferred 3 event at Western Fair Raceway in her last start over two weeks ago, returned $17.80 to her backers this time out as the 7-1 fifth choice in the field of seven. Second choice Heres The Magic and favourite Aisling finished second and third, respectively.

Thundering Ovation is trained by Gerald Sloan and owned by breeder Joanne and Courtney Sloan of Harley, Ont. The Thunder Road mare now has four wins in nine starts this year and matched her season's record, which was set during her five-year-old debut in the same class on Jan. 9 at Flamboro. Lifetime, she has earned 15 wins and $187,925 in purses.

Later on the card with the track downgraded to sloppy, popular Woodbine invader Windsong Glamorous ($4.30) held off Rachel Olivia to win the $7,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 Pace by a quarter-length in 1:59.3. Travis Henry was in the sulky for Vernon Cochrane, who trains and owns the seven-year-old Astreos mare. The win was her first this year and 25th lifetime.
