Outlaw Gunpowder carried his win streak into the $11,000 Open Pace on Sunday, March 13 at Century Downs and dominated his rivals to make it eight straight for trainer/driver Travis Cullen.

Outlaw Gunpowder, who offered just 10 cents on the dollar at the betting windows, carved out panels of :28.2, :57 and 1:24.4 while building up a seven-length lead and then coasted home for the 1:55.1 triumph. Audreys Dream (Ed Hensley) chased him home from the pocket to no avail, finishing two and a quarter lengths behind. Premium Attaction (Gerry Hudon), racing with a $20,000 claiming tag, finished third.

The former Western Canada Pacing Derby champion was claimed for $12,500 last Halloween by Cullen and Manitoba's Keith Hannah, and has gone 10-for-11 in his races since, earning $47,452.

The five-year-old son of Smart Shark's 18th career win was his first in the Open class and bumped his lifetime bankroll over $170,000.

The victory in the 10th race with Outlaw Gunpowder was Cullen's sixth on the day after sweeping the first five races. The 23-year-old horseman now boasts a flashy 0.640 URS for 2016 to lead all trainers in Canada.
