Mystic Maiden Scores In F&M Open

Mystic Maiden, who went 15-for-17 as a sophomore, got back into victory mode thanks to her front-stepping triumph in Sunday’s $12,500 Fillies & Mares Open

at Fraser Downs.

The photogenic pacer, who was denied trips to the winner’s circle in each of her last two starts after kicking off this year’s campaign with back-to-back wins, sat in the pocket behind Jans Rich Girl to the quarter pole in :28.2 before brushing to the top and laying down remaining panels of :57.4 and 1:26 en route to the one-length win in 1:55.4 for driver Dave Hudon. With Bells On was second best to the 1-2 favourite, with Jans Rich Girl taking home third prize.

Justin Currie trains Mystic Maiden for the partnership of Barry MacFarlane of Powell River and Crimson Racing Stable of Langley, BC. The homebred the four-year-old daughter of Camystic-Artfromtheheart who climbed past $200,000 in lifetime earnings, is now 23-for-27 in her career.
