Blueberry Will never grabbed any headlines as a rookie, but she might be the kind of filly that takes her game to a whole new level this season for trainer Murray Brethour.

The three-year-old daughter of Rocknroll Hanover-Credible Blu entered her Thursday evening assignment at Woodbine Racetrack with a 2-for-2 record on her resume to begin the year, and she turned in yet another gritty performance to make it 3-for-3.

Blueberry Will got away fourth from Post 8, and she remained in that position through first-half fractions of :27 and :56. Sylvain Filion called on Blueberry Will to go first over as the field into the final turn, and by the time the field reached the three-quarter pole it was Blueberry Will with a narrow lead in 1:25.2. She then used a :29.3 closing panel to win by a pair of lengths over Lucky Cocktail in 1:55.

Sent off as the even-money favourite in the $17,000 affair, Blueberry Will pushed her lifetime earnings to $30,550 for Ontario owners John Fleishman of Stittsville and Randy Hodgins of Kemptville, Ont.
