Allard Trotters Dominate At Rideau

Trainer Rene Allard had his trotting troops on top of their game Sunday night at Rideau Carleton Raceway, and with each win his pupils scored, their winning margins expanded

Allard's trainees took three of the 15 races on the card by a combined winning margin of 19 and three-quarter lengths.

Homerun Hitter ($10.30), driven by Gord Brown, pulled away to a three and three-quarter length triumph in the ninth race for Allard before Latorraca ($6.80) romped to a five and a quarter length score two races later in rein to Allard's brother Simon. Coco Mustang ($4.10) later extended his winning margin into the double digits in the 14th dash with Simon at the helm.

Currently Rideau Carleton Raceway's leading trainer this year, Allard has recorded 19 wins at the Ottawa oval. He leads in the track standings by four victories over John MacMillan.

Allard was the winningest trainer on Canadian soil last season with 265 victories, as well as the leading percentage trainer. Just over one month into the new year, he ranks No. 1 for his 0.516 training average and has made the top 10 list for both wins and earnings.
