Ontop Rainman found his way on top at Flamboro Downs on Wednesday, Dec. 6 after he won the featured $9,000 conditioned pace.
Michael Whelan and the Walter Whelan-trained four-year-old sat third through the first two panels in :28.3 and :58.1 before tipping to the outside on the way to the three-quarters in 1:27.1. Ontop Rainman achieved the front in the final turn and kept going to win by one length in 1:56 over Sports Section (Tyler Moore) in second and Better Be Gouda (Samuel Fillion) in third.
Christopher Nicol bred and owns the winner of three races this season and five career victories. He moved his career sum to $85,834. Ontop Rainman (Hes Watching-Rain Cloud Hanover) paid $5.90 to win.
