Mc Donald Mastery At Rideau

Trainer Gary Mc Donald had a profitable night thanks to a four-win performance Thursday evening at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

Mc Donald had three wins under his belt just four races into the card thanks to the natural hat trick he celebrated in Races 2 thru 4.

Brother John got the ball rolling for Mc Donald’s barn thanks to his 1:59.4 triumph in Race 2 with driver Gord Brown in tow. That same duo came back to take Race 3 with Real Bigg in 2:00.3 before Mc Donald mapped out the winning trip for Love Is Strong (2:03) in Race 4. Brown and Mc Donald then teamed up to take Race 7 with Lucky Journal in 1:59, thus completing Mc Donald’s ‘Grand Slam’.

The Edwards, Ontario horseman has racked up 71 wins so far this season – 10 more than he did last year with 100 more starts – while banking more than $270,000 in the process. His banner night at the office helped send his lifetime purse earnings over $4 million.
