Garrett Rooney added another five wins to his total count on the Tuesday, Dec. 26 program at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
For his first win of the day, Rooney took Stephen Bossence student Scarlet Dragon ($6.90) from the back of the pack to a 3-1/2-length victory in 2:00. He followed up with Staying Fresh ($3.60) by a half length in 2:02.4 for trainer Richard Griffiths before completing a natural hat trick in races two, three and four with Better Off Single ($2.30) by one length in 1:59 for trainer Katie MacNeil. Doug Schweitzer-conditioned Punchesinbunches ($3.10) gave Rooney his fourth win of the card by a half length in 1:56.2. The five-win fest was capped off in race 11 with Marzannk Hanover ($5.60) in a 5-1/2-length romp in 1:56.2 for Kyle Bossence.
Rooney sits second in the driver standings at Western Fair with 141 triumphs over the 2023 season.
