After breaking his right hind pastern while warming up at Hanover Raceway on July 22, the future of Debbie Franic’s $2,000 yearling, Lucky Gift, was beginning to look
grim.
Lucky Gift, a two-year-old Sir Luck pacing colt trained by Terry Rideout, was assigned only a 50 per cent chance of a full recovery and faced the possibility of being euthanized but luck and equine surgeon Dr. Marc Desjardins were on the bay’s side.
